Welcome to a review of the DENON DHT-1513BA HOME THEATER SYSTEM. The strength of this system is definitely the sound quality. The Boston acoustic speakers sound clear and pleasant even at low volumes. With these acoustic speakers the highs are clear and the bass is full and strong. It really stands out, and the mids & vocals really shine as well.

RATING: 3.9/5

Welcome to a review of the Denon DHT-1312XP Home Theater system. Add immersive, 5.1 surround sound to your home theater with the Denon DHT-1312XP Home Theater System. This powerful system pairs an AVR-1312 receiver with five speakers and a subwoofer to create a cinematic and detailed soundstage. The receiver supports high-resolution audio formats–including Dolby True HD and DTS-HD which makes for a dynamic surround-sound listening experience. This model is compatible with HDMI v1.4a and 3D media and the receiver serves as a quality foundation for your complete home theater system.

It has been noted that both the build quality and the aesthetics on this device are a little below average, though it is by no means a poor looking model. For an entry-level product, it is incredibly well built, featuring sturdy bodywork and slick controls on the front panel.

The DHT-1312XP comes with a fully functional remote control, part number RC-1158, which makes navigation that much easier with the touch of a button.

Overall this model is far from spectacular but will certainly get the job done for most consumers. The DHT-1312XP’s greatest plus is its price and value and will give you a complete surround sound system that fits the needs of most people looking for a sound system.

• Great value

CONS:
• Speaker build quality
• Light on features
• Overly brash at times, lacking Denon’s usual smoothness

Sony BDV-N790W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System

• Wireless rear speakers
• 1000 watts of power
• Built-in WiFi
• USB input
• Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD mode
• 2 HDMI inputs
• Upconvert 2D DVDs to 3D

REMOTE: RM-ADP072

RATING: 4.3 out of 5 stars

Welcome to a review of the Sony BDV-N790W 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System. This Sony home theater system is packed full with lots of extras. The sleek, modern design is very attractive and the rear speakers are easy to mount since they are wireless. The system is easy to install and operate. With 1000 watts of power coming from the speakers, you will get stunning, crisp surround sound. Being WiFi enabled makes it very easy for you to connect to the internet and view movies, listen to music or watch your favorite youtube videos. The HDMI inputs also allow you to connect a gaming console, an iphone and other devices important to you. If you own a smartphone, it can be used as a remote control which is a very nice feature since remote controls seem to get lost frequently.

The remote control that comes with this home theater system is part # RM-ADP072. A common disappointment with this remote is that the remote sensor is poor and to make it work you have to point it in just the right direction, at just the right angle.

Though the majority of individuals who have purchased this system are very happy with the sound quality, there are concerns with some of the features offered. As far as design is concerned, some users have commented that the receiver is a bit on the large side for a compact unit. An FM tuner is part of the system, but it does not include AM, which has been duly noted by many. Apparently load time is an issue – the load time to turn the TV on, to load DVDs and to switch between functions. This system does not provide any means of adjusting individual sound levels such as bass, mid and treble and does not give you a way to tweak the front or rear volume levels which can be frustrating for any sound quality enthusiast. Overall, however, with all the features provided in this home theater system and its crisp, clear surround sound, most users are very happy with their purchase.

PROS:
• Good price for a mid-range home theater system
• Excellent sound quality with surround sound
• Lots of features including Internet connectivity
• Easy to set-up and install

CONS:
• No way to adjust sound levels
• No AM tuner
• Slow load time

Sony DAV-TZ140 300 Watt 5.1 Channel DVD Home Theater System

FEATURES:

• 300 watt 5.1-channel surround sound
• HDMI output
• Upscaling DVDs to 1080p HD quality
• Audio inputs
• Compact
• Parental control
• Energy efficient

REMOTE: RM-ADU138

RATING: 4 out of 5 stars

Welcome to a review of the Sony DAV-TZ140 DVD Home Theater System. This home theater system is compact, and doesn’t take up much space, so it works very well in small spaces. The set-up and installation is easy, however, some users have commented that there are lots of wires to hook up. Because it only has 300 watts, it is best designed for use in smaller rooms since you will not get the same quality of sound in a larger room. The sound quality is clear but not “booming” loud as with other systems that are equipped with more wattage. It has been noted by many that the sound quality while playing movies in the DVD player is excellent but somehow diminishes and gets a bit duller while watching cable TV. Take note that this is a simple DVD player and not a blu-ray, therefore movies made especially for blu-ray cannot be viewed on this DVD player.

The part number for the remote control that comes with this unit is RM-ADU138. The remote control works well and is easy to use.

This home theater system is capable of upscaling your DVDs to near 1080p HD quality. It has a USB port up front that lets you play movies, music and view your photos. While it supports MP3 formats for music, it does not support AVI, MP4 or WMV formats. Pictures can be viewed using the JPEG format. One of the complaints about the speakers is that it does not allow you to adjust the bass or treble of the subwoofer independently. Also, while for many who have purchased this system the sound volume has been adequate, there are an equal amount of consumers who have said that this system needs louder volume. Overall, this is a compact unit best equipped for smaller spaces where 300 watts is enough to give you a good, crisp sound system, for a good price.

PROS:
• Inexpensive
• Easy to set-up
• USB port to play movies, music and view pictures
• Compact system that can fit anywhere
• Crisp sound quality

CONS:

• Sound volume not loud enough
• Cannot adjust the treble and bass on the subwoofer
• Does not support AVI, MP4 or WMV formats

REMOTE: RC-1149

RATING: 3.9/5.0

Welcome to a review of the DENON DHT-391XP HOME THEATER SYSTEM. The overall sound quality on this device is fairly good. The subwoofer is also very powerful and responsive, without overpowering all of the audio. However, one issue about this model is the satellite speakers. It has been stated that the treble lacks a bit and even with the treble maxed out, it still feels like you are missing out on the clear high pitched sound effects. This device does provide quality mid tones, but in in the opinion of some, without crisp highs, therefore the overall sound suffers.

This model is built sturdy, looks great, and presents very good options, plus you will receive an easy to use remote control, part number RC-1149, that will get you through the setup and menu options with ease.

Some people have had a problem with the lack of inputs on the back of the receiver, however it has been found to be perfectly fine because all of the components can go into the TV first, with a single optical digital audio going out to the receiver. Overall this model is fairly solid but it does seem per some, that you need to work with this model a bit more to get it setup but once that is completed, the system is sound.

PROS:
• Price
• Great subwoofer
• Compact and powerful

CONS:
• Freezes up
• Manual is not helpful
• Lack of inputs
