Welcome to a review of the Onkyo AVX-290 5.1-Channel Home Theater Package. This home theater package is in the entry level range as far as price, and doesn’t have all the features of higher end systems but makes up for it in performance. It is designed primarily for small to medium sized rooms. Instructions in the manual are easy to follow, with speaker cables that are color coded and an FM tuner that is easy to setup. This system comes with 4 HDMI inputs to connect your equipment such as a blu-ray player, cable/satellite box, gaming console, or PC. Although it does not come with a USB port, it does come equipped with a universal port on the back side of the receiver that allows you to connect peripherals such as an iPod/iPhone dock.

The remote control that comes with the AVX-290 HT system is part# RC-762M. Some users have commented that the remote control is hard to program but with the help of Onkyo support, any problems are easily solved.

As part of this home theater system, Audyssey audio filters optimize the sound so that you can enjoy superior sound quality. User-friendly on-screen menus allow you to easily adjust settings. The 5 speakers and subwoofer will surround you with crisp sound clarity and a deep bass that is not overwhelming so that your home theater experience will be enjoyable and memorable.
