RATING:
4.2/5

Welcome to the review of the DENON S-101 DVD home entertainment system. This model is a simple integrated system featuring 100 watt power. The set-up is a breeze even for a novice and overall the whole system is user friendly and the fully function remote control that comes with the S-101 will help make your whole entertainment experience a great one. The remote control part number is RC-1007.

Included is a high-quality progressive scan DVD player which is a nice addition. It has several auxiliary inputs, and can handle a digital optical or coax input from another source. The heart of the system is actually in the subwoofer, which makes most of the cords stay hidden in the corner.

One of the nicest features of this system is its iPod compatibility. Just hook up your iPod using the supplied cable. The S-101 displays a menu on your TV that looks and works like your iPod’s screen. You can control your iPod using the remote, listen to your favorite songs through the S-101’s speakers, or enjoy a slideshow from your iPod Photo on the large, bright screen of your TV. And you don’t have to worry about your iPod running low on power, since this device also charges it for you.

It has been stated that the S-101 is a great home stereo to add to any medium sized space. This system sounds and looks great even though the Virtual Dolby doesn’t really create sound behind you, but it does give a clear center channel.

PROS:
• iPod compatibility
• Simple design
• Clear centered sound

CON:
• Repetitive design flaws
