Welcome to a review of the Onkyo TX-NR525 5.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver. The TX-NR525 is low end in price for Onkyo but you wouldn’t know it by all that it has to offer. Onkyo makes connecting your home theater system easy by providing color coded labels for the speaker wires and pre-labeled HDMI inputs like cable/satellite, game, DVD, and computer. It comes with automatic calibration of your speakers using a microphone provided. The six HDMI inputs take surround sound formats from Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and also support 3D video, giving you the finest in sound and picture quality. Although Wifi and Bluetooth are not built-in, with the proper LAN adapter, you will have wireless access to stream your music, and videos effortlessly and have access to the most popular streaming and radio services on the internet. The TX-NR525 also has the capacity to extend the sound and picture to another room, called the second zone.

The part number for the remote control is RC-865M. The remote is programmable and has the ability to control your TV, Blu-ray, DVD and Cable/Satellite. Some users have noted that at times the remote needs to be aimed right at the receiver in order for it to work. The Onkyo remote app for iPod touch, iPhone and Android devices is another convenient way to control your home theater system within wireless range.

A very noteworthy feature is the 4K pass through. With Onkyo thinking ahead to the future of technology, they have equipped this receiver with 4K pass through resolution from source devices, like a blu-ray, to a 4K ready HDTV. Onkyo uses Audyssey Technology adjustments to optimize the sound. Audyssey Dynamic EQ maintains reliable bass and surround sound effects at different volume levels. The Audyssey technology also automatically compensates for changes in volume levels. The sound quality this receiver delivers is exceptional with clarity, and bass that is not overpowering. With all these features, and a price that is very reasonable, you will be very happy to make this part of your home theater system.
