Welcome to a review of the Sony BDP-S3100 Blu-ray Disc Player with Super Wi-Fi. The Sony BDP-3100 is very compact, lightweight and stylish and fits in small spaces. The set-up is easy and quick. The menu’s layout, although adequate, could use some improvement as noted by several users. The feature that upscales DVDs to near 1080p will certainly enhance the picture quality of all your DVDs and enable you to watch your movies with vibrant, bright colors and crystal clear images. The I/P noise reduction also helps to deliver the best picture quality by eliminating playback noise. Not only does this blu-ray disc player deliver top-notch picture quality, it offers much in the way of connectivity to the internet via the built-in WiFi and sideview app. Stream your music, and videos or watch movies from Sony’s Entertainment network, offering services like Netflix, YouTube, HuluPlus, Pandora, Amazon Instant Video, and more. You will also have access to apps exclusively designed for your TV. One disappointment noted by users about the apps is that they are in a fixed order and the order of apps cannot be adjusted, therefore, if you want the 40th app., for example, you have no choice but to scroll down until you reach it.

Some users have had problems with the screen going black, with no sound, and doing so off and on while watching movies. To remedy this problem the “deep color” setting must be turned off. Once this setting is turned off the problem is resolved. The audio capability of this blu-ray functions well but one user noted that to get the full HD master audio sound that this blu-ray is capable of delivering, the “audio mix” setting must be turned off. Adjustments certainly need to be made, but this blu-ray disc player can really pack a punch when all the settings are in sync and for the bargain price, you can’t go wrong.
